Montes del Plata, as a consortium, made the decision to build a cellulose pulp mill in Punta Pereira in the Department of Colonia in Uruguay. This industrial complex, which incorporates the world’s most demanding practices in terms of safety and environmental care, features a pulp mill, a power generating unit and a port. The Montes del Plata project comprises a state-of-the-art pulp mill that implements the best available technology for the pulp and paper sector. This pulp mill is among the world’s most modern.
VCE (in a group with other designers) was responsible for the detailed design for the fiberline department of the pulp mill. Various piling methods, precast and cast-in situ solutions were accommodated within the project.
