Because of the Schengen Agreement and of internal targets the Main Station Salzburg will be extended as a transit station and TEN-junction. Therefore a complete modification of the station, considering the listed areas, the terminal building and the existing hall, is necessary.
Due to the architectural construction style of the platform canopy and particular specifications for wind comfort of passengers it was necessary to perform an extensive wind tunnel test campaign. Among others the results of those tests should be incorporated into the structural design procedure.
Furthermore the wind comfort conditions in the subsurface passage and the smoke venting system should be enhanced during a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis.
