PROJECT OF THE MONTH AUGUST 2024 | Apart from visual inspection VCE measured and analysed the tension forces in the 24 external tendons each.
The bridge is situated on BAB A3 in the section between the motorway interchanges Biebelried and Fürth/Erlangen and consists of two separate structures. The total length amounts to 358.80 m, and it is a five-span prestressed concrete structure with a maximum span of 104 m.
Apart from visual inspection of the external tendons VCE measured and analysed the tension forces in the 24 external tendons each (built as CMM ties). For this purpose, the eigenfrequencies of the tendons were determined by means of BRIMOS® and from that the available tension forces were defined. The latter were subsequently compared with the specifications from the structural analysis, the prestressing procedures and the prestressing records.
