HS2 is currently Europe’s largest infrastructure project. The brand-new railway high-speed line will connect London to Birmingham and Manchester on over 450 km of track.
Most of the route will be equipped with PORR STA – the Slab Track Austria system. VCE contributes with its technical know-how and support as Lead Designer on behalf of PORR UK Ltd. for the track system on open route sections, on viaducts and in cut & cover and bored tunnels at very high speed.
The scope of VCE includes the entire track design for speeds up to 360 kph, interface aspects for bridges, earthworks and tunnels, acoustic consultancy, life cycle assessment, maintenance aspects and environmental assessment. The current phase includes the preliminary system design, followed by the detailed design in the successive stages.
