Monitoring SBB Viaduct Seehalde

PROJECT of the MONTH NOVEMBER 2024 | Grüezi from Switzerland: On behalf of Mageba, we supplied the webuser interface for monitoring the Seehalde 1 viaduct in Herrliberg.

In the current monitoring project on behalf of Mageba we have realized the webuser interface for the automatic movement control of the Viaduct Seehalde 1 in Herrliberg in the Swiss canton of Zurich. This 110 m long railway bridge (between km 15,524 and km 15,640 of route 730: Winkel - Herrliberg - Feldmeilen), built between 1962 and 1963, daily carries the weight of trains and is now continuously monitored by means of automatic sensors.

What is comprised in the project?

  • Objective: Securing of the stability and precision in the motion control of the structure.
  • Technology: Automatic sensor system at the bearings of the abutments.
  • Details: At each of the two bearings a longitudinal and transversal sensor is installed whereas an additional air temperature sensor at the northern abutment records the impacts of temperature fluctuations on the movement behaviour.

This continuous measurement enables us to immediately register displacements and to identify necessary adjustments in time. This will ensure the long-term operational safety of this important transport infrastructure!
